Taunton High English Department
Philosophy, Vision, and Initiatives
OUR PHILOSOPHY
The English Department of Taunton High School is dedicated to providing our students with the skills needed to achieve their academic goals. By valuing the importance of reading and writing on a daily basis, we are preparing our students to become lifelong learners and contributing members of society. We encourage our students to take responsibility for their learning experiences both in and out of the classroom and promote the importance of living a literate life in the 21st century.
VISION STATEMENT
Our teachers will tailor instruction within the classroom to the academic needs of individual students using the results of classroom observation, standardized assessments, and a broad knowledge of current educational theory and practice. As a matter of habit, students will take responsibility for their own academic achievement and apply the lessons that they have learned in the classroom to lead a literate life. By being active participants in their own education, students will not only master the language skills necessary to graduate from Taunton High School, but they will be prepared for the road that awaits them in both college and work careers.
