Guidance Department

To Students and Parents/Guardians/Caregivers of the Class of 2023:

On Wednesday, October 12th, Taunton High School is offering all seniors the opportunity to participate in a College Tour and Career Exploration Day.  We encourage all 12th grade students to visit prospective colleges, technical/trade schools, and workplaces to gather information about post-secondary pursuits.

Tours should be scheduled in advance through the college’s website or by contacting the Admissions Office.  We have compiled links to many local colleges and placed them in the Class of 2023 Guidance Google Classroom. In addition, THS is working directly with some local campuses to arrange special tours for THS students. Information about these tours will be posted in the Class of 2023 Guidance Google Classroom and sent in a separate email.

Click here for a helpful Campus Visit Checklist provided by the College Board.

Seniors who choose to participate in this opportunity will have their attendance recorded as a field trip/excused absence for the day.

Seniors who elect to attend school on the 12th will not attend their regular classes, but will report to the library to participate in alternative college and career planning activities.

Students or parents/guardians with questions about this program should contact their guidance counselor or Jenifer Andrews, College & Career Counselor, at 508-844-5857 or [email protected].  We hope that all seniors will take advantage of this opportunity to explore college campuses and workplaces!

JUNIORS:  If you are thinking about applying to college in the fall, we encourage you to attend our FREE Summer College Boot Camp.  The goal is to give students a headstart on the college application process.  It is particularly helpful for students planning to apply Early Action, students applying to highly selective colleges, and for first-generation college students.

  • August 15 - August 18
  • 9am - 12pm
  • THS Library
  • Bring your chromebook

Students are encouraged but not required to attend every session.  We start each day with a large group "lesson" on components of the admissions process and then provide small group and individual support.  Students will learn how to use Naviance to research schools to find the best fit, apply to colleges using the Common App and institutional applications, draft an essay, request teacher recommendations, and learn about standardized testing policies.

If you are interested in attending, please complete this registration form:

We hope to see you there!

(If you have questions about using Naviance, see Mrs. Andrews in Guidance.)

Mrs. Andrews, Ms. McCarthy, and Mr. Gay will also be holding individual and small group meetings with seniors throughout the fall to assist with this process. Email us or stop by Guidance to make an appointment.

Stay tuned:  in October, we will be offering college mini-fairs, a Financial Aid Night, and small group sessions for students applying Early Action and to nursing programs.

We are very proud of the success our students have had in the college admissions process and look forward to working with the Class of 2022 to continue this tradition!
