Dear Seniors & Families,

We know applying to college - or even just thinking about it - is stressful, but Guidance is here to help!  You are invited to attend these free programs designed to assist you with the college application process:

  • College Application Help:  Thursday Sept. 16, 2pm-3pm, in person, THS Library
  • More College Application Help:  Wednesday Sept. 22, 2pm-3pm, in person, THS Library
  • Senior College Kick-off: Thursday Sept. 30, 6pm-7:30pm, virtual, Google Meet:

We have also scheduled in-person and virtual admissions info sessions with representatives from many colleges and universities.  For a complete list of sessions and to register, log in to Naviance and look under "What's New" on the homepage. (If you have questions about using Naviance, see Mrs. Andrews in Guidance.)

Mrs. Andrews, Ms. McCarthy, and Mr. Gay will also be holding individual and small group meetings with seniors throughout the fall to assist with this process. Email us or stop by Guidance to make an appointment.

Stay tuned:  in October, we will be offering college mini-fairs, a Financial Aid Night, and small group sessions for students applying Early Action and to nursing programs.

We are very proud of the success our students have had in the college admissions process and look forward to working with the Class of 2022 to continue this tradition!

Dear Juniors & Families,
On Wednesday October 13, THS will provide Juniors with a no-cost opportunity to take the PSAT.  The PSAT is essentially a "practice SAT" and is also the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship program.  More information about the test can be found here:

Who should take the PSAT?
Students who intend to apply to competitive 4-year colleges should consider taking the test.  Most colleges have implemented "test-optional" admissions policies, so standardized test scores are far less important in college admissions than they were even a few years ago.  However, some schools do still require test scores and others use them as criteria to qualify for merit-based scholarships.  Students who plan to enter the military, pursue a trade, or enroll in technical school or community college do not need to take this test.  If you are unsure whether you/your student should take the test, you may contact your Guidance Counselor or myself to discuss your individual situation.  Students who opt not to test will have a regular school day and will still be eligible to take the school-day SAT (also offered at no charge) in April.
We kindly ask that all students/families interested in taking the PSAT on October 13 complete this brief form no later than Monday, September 13:

Questions about the PSAT can be directed to Jenifer Andrews, College & Career Counselor, at
